This past weekend I made another trip to down to Wellington to meet up for a TEAN sponsored event to the Wellington Hurricane rugby game against Australia’s Western Force.

By no means am I an expert on rugby; heck, I barely understand the game at all! Even so, it was really neat to watch! And of course it’s enver a dull moment when I’m surrounded by my fellow NZ TEAN’ers 🙂
Before the game, we all met up at Belgium Bar Café, Leuven for some pre-game socializing and drinks. After we had finished a round we made our way to the Westpac Stadium to find our seats and grab some food for the game. The home team, the Hurricanes, dominated the majority of the game – and they ended up beating the Australian Force 22-16. Check out some of the pics I took below!

Throughout the rest of the weekend I explored more of Wellington and the surrounding area.

I went to a quick visit through the Wellington Botanic Gardens – which had an incredible overview of the city of Wellington. Also at the gardens I got to see the infamous ‘Trippy Tree’.

During the weekend I also tried to find the area called Red Rock –which is an area on the coast which contains red rocks (obviously) and usually
has seal colonies spread throughout. I had absolutely no clue where I was going but I managed to find some rocks…and they happen to be red! Unfortunately, just not the right ones. *shakes head in disappointment*
Goal for next trip to Wellington is to actually find these Red Rocks!
Also in my weekend in Wellington I stumbled upon the National Firefighter Combat Challenge, which is supposedly the ‘toughest two minutes of sport’. It’s similar to something like American Ninja Warrior, just not as extreme. 36 fire departments from all over New Zealand showed up for this two day event. I was able to watch a few of the teams perform and it was pretty cool; something neat to see and experience.

That’s all for this blog….until the next time! -Brad
